Hi. I’m Shanyah.

I’m guessing since you’ve found yourself here, we’re already friends. If not, I’m so glad to meet you. Thanks for dropping in.

Those who know a little (or a lot) about me are probably thinking right now, “Why is this girl starting a blog? What does this nineteen-year-old college drop-out have to say to anyone?”

My answer: probably more than you might think.

You see, I’m an introvert at my core, so I’m very “in my head.” My mind is always racing with daydreams, thoughts, and ideas, and until a few years ago that’s all they were – in my mind. But then, my love of reading introduced me to a new and exciting concept: journaling.

As I was in a place of drowning in my jumbled thoughts, journaling quickly became my lifeline. A way to transform my feelings into words.

And bang! Everything changed. Once I was able to make sense of what was going on inside, I became more aware of what was happening outside. My thoughts were no longer my barrier but rather my bridge.

And another thing – it’s through journaling that the Lord most often speaks to me. In those quiet times when I sit with a pen and paper in hand, I am at last still enough to hear His voice. Sometimes it’s in the mornings before I start a busy workday. Sometimes it’s in the middle of a chaotic afternoon when I’m desperate for some quiet. And sometimes it’s late at night when my heart is overwhelmed and needs a place to release everything pent up inside.

For me, writing has always been more than a hobby. It’s been a gift. And by that I don’t mean, “Look at my special talent!” Rather, a connection. Between my thoughts and actions. Between me and Jesus. And now, I hope, between me and you.

Believe me, I have no crazy high expectations for this blog, but maybe it can simply be a source of encouragement for you. Maybe a place for you to see, “Hey, she doesn’t have it all (or anything) together either.” Maybe a place to hear the good news of the gospel in the midst of a world obsessed with bad news. Maybe just something fun to read after a long day.

Whatever this is for me – whatever it is for you – my prayer is that the Lord’s faithful nature will shine through. In case the title of this blog was totally lost on you, it’s a reference to my favorite hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” (it’s a great song – you should check it out). I chose it because it’s the reminder I most need as I walk this unmarked path: He will always provide for me – every step of the way.

When I’m unsure. When I’m alone. When I’m anxious about my future.

My life, my callings, my hopes and dreams – He has it all in the palm of His hand. Before a need even arises, He already has it taken care of. That’s the promise of His faithfulness. Day by day. Morning by morning. And in that, I can begin each new adventure with an abundance of hope.

So, as I step into this with a heart of trepidation, I am also excited for the things to come. I am not creating this blog with the thought that I’ll become rich and famous or anything. Simply with the desire to share my heart with whomever chooses to read along. I’ve got a lot to say, and it is so sweet to have a place to say it.

Here we go!
